Following on from the single “Signs†IKON drop a melodic mood enhancer in the form of “Breaking†featuring the vocals of Dee Ellington. IKON is a studio project of Elliot Ireland and Alex Rizzo (of Skeewiff fame) and Jalapeno label boss Trevor Mac. Formed in 2003 it has featured the vocal talents of Kirsty Hawkshaw, Alison Limerick, Ian Britt, Alison David, Pat C and a host of others. The new album features Kirsty and Ian once again as well as soul veteran Dee Ellington and frontwoman of indie band The Steals â€" Jayn Hanna. Remixes on Breaking come courtesy of Dr Rubberfunk and the US funk breaks dons All Good Funk Alliance. The doctor does a rubbery job on it (try saying that in a Chinese accent) adding strings and his trademark off kilter funky drums. All Good Funk Alliance turn in two remixes the main one dropping 70’s funk keys and a large helping of breakbeat while their FIG remix offers another take on IKON’s downtempo original.
