Rock the Disco/Funk Up my Day
A 2 track single () — released September 19th 2005 on Jalapeno Records
Jalapeno Records finally drag themselves into this century with the first female producer to release on the label. Shattering the illusion that dragging round second-hand record shops for obscure funk samples is the exclusive realm of nerdy male producers, the glamorous D’Stephanie, one of Belgium’s hottest properties joins the label roster.
Stephanie has a CV as long as your arm with DJ residencies all over Europe and her native Belgium and a string of releases on various labels including her most recent offering Future Warrior on Jazzanova’s uber-cool Sonar Kollectiv with Daz-i-kue from Bugz giving it the remix treatment. On this release Rock the Disco on the a side is a party breaks record with a hip hop chant and a vocal from longtime D’Stephanie collaborator Philippo. Over on the B side, Funk Up My Day is a beautifully sung track with full vocal courtesy of Melissa which is just as likely to find favour with the deep house squad as Jalapeno’s usual breaks audience.
